I have reviewed a number of studies on the endocrine system’s influence on sexual function, and several sources suggest that hypothyroidism may be associated with erectile dysfunction. I would appreciate further insights into the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms that might link thyroid hormone imbalances to reduced erectile function. Specifically, are there established pathways involving alterations in nitric oxide synthesis, endothelial dysfunction, or changes in sex hormone levels that could explain this relationship? Additionally, any epidemiological data or clinical trial results that delineate the prevalence and severity of ED in hypothyroid patients compared to euthyroid populations would be informative.
