I keep seeing ads for “electrical” fixes for ED and I’m totally confused about what’s what. Some say shockwave, some say TENS or pelvic floor e-stim, and a few mention nerve stimulation around the ankle or penis. Has anyone here actually tried any of these? I’m super new to this and trying to make sense of it all.
A few things I’m curious about:
- Are low-intensity shockwave treatments the same thing as electrical stimulation, or totally different? What did you feel during/after?
- If you’ve used a TENS unit or pelvic floor e-stim at home, where did you place the pads, what settings did you use (frequency/length), and how often? Any tips like using gel, shaving, or avoiding certain spots?
- Has anyone tried dorsal penile nerve or tibial nerve stimulation (near the ankle) for ED? Did you notice changes in morning wood or sensitivity?
- Did combining these with meds like sildenafil/tadalafil make a difference, or do you have to stop meds to see if the “electro” stuff actually helps baseline function?
- For home devices vs clinic sessions: what felt worth it cost-wise? Any brand/models that didn’t feel like junk?
- How do you figure out if you’re even a good candidate (nerve-related vs vascular vs pelvic floor tightness/weakness)? Any simple at-home clues you used before spending money?
- Any side effects you ran into (numbness, irritation, pelvic tightness, decreased sensitivity)? How long did they last?
- Safety-wise, is there anything to watch for if you have heart rhythm issues, a pacemaker/implant, or you’re on blood thinners?
- What did you track to know if it’s working beyond placebo-erection hardness score, NPT rings/apps, time-to-firmness, partner feedback?
If you’ve got a before/after routine (like exact session length, frequency, and what you stacked it with-Kegels, L-citrulline, lifestyle tweaks), I’d love to hear it. Trying to avoid burning cash and nerves on stuff that won’t suit my situation.
